Our commitments
ACTING FOR THE FUTURE

To meet the challenges of today and prepare for the challenges of tomorrow, at Troplong Mondot we remain resolutely committed to sustainability from an environmental, social and economic perspective.

Our commitments for our continued existence and to sustain our natural environment
At Troplong Mondot we are determined to conduct our business in an ecologically appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable manner.
Our commitment to sustainability is not about meeting set standards but rooted in our firm convictions.
We adhere to the 2030 Agenda - a United Nations plan for sustainable development. This ambitious, human-centred global plan is underpinned by 17 sustainable development goals covering a wide range of issues, including biodiversity, energy, inequality and prosperity. At every level and in every sector of our business, we are committed on this pathway and actively encourage all our partners to join us on the same path.
Our approach is based on the two essential pillars of carbon neutrality and safeguarding biodiversity.

Race to Zero:
in pursuit of carbon neutrality
Our pledge: to halve our carbon footprint by 2030 and reach zero emissions by 2050.
Troplong Mondot is firmly committed to the United Nations Net Zero Campaign and is one of the pioneering forces in this particular area within the French wine sector.
A silver member of the IWCA (International Wineries for Climate Action) – an organisation that actively mobilises vineyard estates around the globe to reduce their carbon emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change, while providing scientifically measurable results - Troplong Mondot was the first vineyard in France to join this programme.

Château Troplong Mondot’s impact on the environment is a subject close to our hearts.
Here - with a touch of humour - we share our thoughts, approaches and concrete results.

In concrete actions:
The quest for efficiency and restraint...
Drastic reduction in energy consumption, namely through smart building technology, reduced travel and rethinking our approach to wine bottle weight and transport (ie. metal capsules replaced by wax seals introduced from the 2022 vintage and a 15% reduction in weight for Mondot bottles).
Generating less than 1 tonne of carbon emissions annually compared to 191 tonnes generated through gas heating: all buildings on the estate - including the winery, cellars, offices, restaurant and accommodation - are entirely self-sufficient in terms of heating by using pellets innovatively produced from vine cuttings.

...and Zero Waste policy:
drastic reduction in waste, packaging and single use plastic among all our staff and suppliers; any organic waste – including from Les Belles Perdrix restaurant – handled on-site; and multiple partnerships established with various organisations and businesses to identify recycling solutions.
